The importance of lighting is often overlooked when it comes to designing a space. Choosing the correct lighting can not only illuminate an area to create the right atmosphere but can also become a statement piece or focal point to a room.
To give you a little inspiration here are my:
‘Top Ten Statement Table Lamps for Summer 2016’ !!!
10
£40 – Habitat
The award-winning Ribbon lamp was designed by Claire Norcross exclusively for Habitat and is constructed from metal in a black powder coated finish. Inspired by the shapes that are created when a ribbon is in movement, the form of the Ribbon lamp was developed through an exploration of origami and paper crafts.

£253 – Flos
Designed by Patricia Urquiola, Tatou was inspired by Japanese armour: “a series of metal buckles cleverly united by tapes with a powerful emotional value” Tatou is available in black, white and my personal favourite Ochre Grey as pictured.
8
£397 – Kartell
I have been a fan of the Bourgie lamp for many years and this version in gold is a real statement piece. Designed by Ferruccio Laviani this baroque style lamp features a large pleated style lampshade and is one of Kartell’s most iconic designs.
7
£150 – Seletti
Designed by the Italian designer Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba, the Sitting Monkey lamp is handmade by Seletti and creates a real cheeky art piece for any room.
6
£420 – Tom Dixon
The gorgeous Tom Dixon Bell table lamp is made in high polished chrome with a bell-shaped shade, hence the name. Due to it’s reflective nature, your interior will be mirrored within the light to create a dramatic look.
5
£336 – Northern Lighting
Designed by Morten Skjærpe Knarrum and Jonas Norheim in Norway, this unique table light takes its inspiration from a traditional cake stand. The base is made from oak with a glass shade complete with filament style bulb.
4
£268 – Innermost
I’m a huge fan of the Jeeves lighting collection by Jake Phipps, along with this cool bowler hat table lamp, the collection also includes two ceiling lights and wall lights to create a funky and cool character to your home.
3
£200 – CB2
I adore this Art Deco inspired table lamp from CB2, designed by Corinna Warm. The base is made from black marble whilst the double globe canopy lights are finished in brushed Nickel.
2
POA – Roche Bobois
The simplicity of this table light actually makes a bold statement to a room, with a Canaletto walnut veneer base and lamp shade with a conical structure finished in lacquered aluminium.
1
£709 – Catellani & Smith
It’s certainly not cheap, but my number one table light for Summer 2016 has to be the PK LED 4O by Catellani & Smith. This unique light is made from fibre glass and gold leaf, crossed with a plated copper stem. The eco-friendly LED light casts a relaxing warm glow against a room’s backdrop and looks stunning both on or off…not only a light but quite frankly a piece of art!
